Who We Are
The Canadian Playground Safety Institute (CPSI) is committed to helping communities create safer and more engaging play environments for children across Canada. As the leading provider of playground safety training and certification, CPSI equips individuals with the skills and knowledge to inspect, assess, and maintain playgrounds in accordance with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard CAN/CSA Z614. This standard sets the benchmark for children’s play spaces and equipment, focusing on minimizing hazards while preserving the value and joy of play.
In partnership with the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA), CPSI offers a comprehensive certification program for Canadian Certified Playground Inspectors. This program includes a Theory Course, which covers essential safety principles, and a Practical Course, providing hands-on training in playground inspections. Both courses are available in classroom settings across the country, as well as online, ensuring accessibility for professionals from diverse regions. Certification is valid for three years, with straightforward options for re-certification to maintain industry recognition.
We partner with municipalities, parks, recreation staff, and other organizations to deliver resources and training that empower communities to enhance playground environments. CPSI also provides tools like inspection kits and reports tailored to CSA standards, making it easier for professionals to maintain playgrounds effectively.
